Quiet Weekend.....For The Birds and a little Catty

We had a pretty quiet weekend around the apartment. With the exception of Saturday night we had some neighbors get in an enormous fight, which was very upsetting to listen to. One of the hardest things I find about living in an apartment is sharing your living space with others who may live much differently from you and your family. A good reminder that we should be praying for our neighbors even if we do not know them personally..

We ended up also having a few more papers to sign that were incorrect for the house closing and we are still trying our best to be patient and keeping busy while we wait.
Anna and I did some bird watching and had the privilege to spot a gorgeous American Kestrel. It had the most beautiful blue wings. I only wish I could have zoomed in more to show you. So I grabbed a closeup off the internet so you could see how gorgeous this bird is.

We also found an abandoned birds nest that was on our balcony that we have been watching since we arrived here. It was tucked up in the corner rafters, the former tenants left some unhatched eggs behind and it was obvious to tell they were old and all dried out. But it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to study it. We found some really great worksheets on birds nest that you can get if you CLICK HERE
Now normally if you find a birds nest you should leave it alone because it can be very hard to tell if it is abandoned, but since we have had such good viewing of this nest daily for over a months time we were able to determine it was abandoned.

And on a different middle son Liam loves cats and unfortunately his mother is extremely allergic to them. So he collects stuffed cats. At Christmas our family enjoys handmade presents so this year I thought I would make Liam a cat. I got the pattern from a book that I purchased called Wild and Wonderful Fleece Animals. I hope to make a few lovies for the children from here for Christmas they have some very cute animals in here, and it was really quite simple to make. The patterns are included right inside the book. The only problem I had was I kept putting the ears in the wrong direction. I think I had to pull out the stitches and fix it 4 times. And lucky for me there was a football game on which Liam loves so I had no problem sneaking this all past him.

A new week is ahead and who knows what might be in store it could be another week of waiting for us or it could be another move. Well good thing we can cast all our burdens on the Lord and He is faithful. He knows exactly what will happen this week and has just what we need to make it through another week with ups and downs.
Have a Most Blessed Monday ~ The Watts Family

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Psalm 23

  1. Good Morning, Heather! Sweet picture of you and your cute dog. The picture of the American Kestrel is beautiful. You must have been so excited to spot one.

Cute fleece kitty and pattern book though they don't look so WILD to me :)

Nice catching up with you and your family!

  2. I love bird watching too! We had some beautiful blue birds fluttering about here all summer long! They are my favorites!

Won't it be nice when you get in your own space and you don't have to listen to neighbors fight? I'm rootin' for ya!

Yes, we do need to remember them in prayer too. What a good reminder:)

    Have a blessed week!

  3. Dear Heather,

I hope your neighbors have settled down now~we have lots of memories of noisy apartment neighbors! Not a fun thing.

The kestrel is just beautiful! We had one grab a finch that was feeding out front last year~I kind of felt guilty that our bird feeder was being used to kill the little guy! :)

Are you going to take the nest with you? If they've abandoned it, I'd say it's fair game, wouldn't you?

Evangeline thought your cat toy was the cutest thing ever~"Ohhhhhh!".

Good luck with the house-closing saga; buying houses really teaches us to have faith that it will eventually come to pass!

  4. The American kestral is beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen one in real. We love to watch the birds too!

Liam is going to love that kitty! He is GORGEOUS!! What beautiful work you do!

Enjoy your week! Hopefully very soon, you will be moving boxes into your new home and will really be able to unpack!

  5. Thanks for visiting and for your comments. We were in San Diego about a month ago. It is so beautiful. We took a quick trip but visited the Wild Animal Park, SeaWorld, Legoland and the beach. I can't wait to go back again.

Thanks For leaving your thoughts...Have a blessed day!
