Miami is breaking records today with the heat. I believe they said on the news with the heat index the temperature was 120F Ouch! That's Hot! We still set out early this morning we went bike riding and then fishing at the canal. We also borrowed a few new critters for our Pets In A Jar to study and draw. We have some new butterflies and two new lizards visiting with us now.
We are continuing on with our Nature Study and drawing in our journals. And we also started the Weaver Genesis One. It is a study of Chemistry and the book of Genesis. I really enjoyed sitting down with the children and digging into some new science. We also learned some new things about creation vs. evolution. And we did a few experiments with polymers. We made some polymer worms and a bouncing ball.
Here are some snap shots from our stomping in the urban wildlands today
Psalm103
Let all that I am praise the Lord with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins, he heals all my diseases
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies
He fills my life with good things, My youth renewed like the eagles!
Praise the Lord , everything he has created everything in his kingdom.
Let all that I am praise the Lord!

Heather,
ReplyDelete102 degrees! Wow, when I was there it never got that hot, yikes!
I must say that you are taking this quite well. Your pictures are beautiful as always ;)
Thank you dear friend, for sharing your "hot" and blessed day,
lady m
Again, very cool. Charlotte Mason had this idea about a foundation for Science being reverence and understanding of God's earth first before taking it apart to figure out how it works. You're family is doing that in such a great way! The heatwave thing hit us today, too. That I could do without, though!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is hot!! We're just happy to finally be hitting the 80's.
ReplyDeleteI love the nature journals! I want my young 'uns to be doing them this summer, but we haven't even made it out to buy them notebooks yet. Hopefully this week!
Love the photos and the Psalm too!
Stay cool this week!:) Thanks for all the Scripture that you post in your blog. It is an encouragement to my heart. Have a blessed day!:)
ReplyDeleteDear Heather,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, and verses to go with them! I love the drawing of the dragonfly; you have some artistic talent at your place! I can't believe it's that hot there already, wow! I think we've hit 72 or so today, which seems hot after all the rain!
Oh, I've created a blog for my creative writings :), but still have to link it to my blog and put things on it. I love your husband's middle name, and his brother's! Is Aragorn his first or middle name? My brother named his dogs Frodo, Sam, and Rosie, and my mom has a Pippin, so we're covered for hobbits except Bilbo and Merry!
Love,
Marqueta
Aragorn is his first name ~Great name! ....and we have had many pets as well named after hobbits hehe!! We do not have any at this time but we do enjoy second breakfast which is also enjoyed in the shire! and rather hoobitish~ Blessings :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Heather, I won't tell you that our family has totally outgeeked you on the Lord of the Rings names with children named Piper Arwen, Bridget Eowyn, Ciaran Elessar, and Quinn Eomer. Only Reagan escaped with Alan for a middle name. LOL
