In between storms...

We are currently in between storm 2 and 3 as we await the approach of the final storm on Thursday that is supposed to be the worst. There has been lots of wind and rain and power going on and off fortunately with this storm it has been short power outages so we have not had any food spoil. We have been tucked inside our little house weathering the storms celebrating a birthday even entertaining an old friend visiting for dinner, homeschooling, reading and keeping busy while we wait for the sun to come back again.

While we love learning together with the one room school house approach, Anna is also learning this year about independent study.

"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."

  1. sounds like you're staying warm despite the storm. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Tell Anna that her cake looks wonderful--it's impressive. By the way, did you try the baked oatmeal yet? I think I'll be making some again this week. It's been cold these past couple days, so this will warm us up! Have a great day. --Theo

  2. Hello Watts Family,
So nice of you to visit and welcome me back from my trip to B.C. We did indeed have a splendid time and are very blessed with a wonderful family. My son and his sweet wife took us to all sorts of places and treated us like royalty.
Yes, it's all right to *drool* over my birthday goodies. I am guilty of the same thing many times. Happy Birthday to your Mr. Watts! Hope he has a wonderful day and a year filled with blessings. Hope your stormy weather comes to an end soon. We, on the other hand, are about to have one come our way....snow. Looking forward to Spring for sure. Have a lovely day and thanks again for stopping by.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  4. Thanks so much for the kind visit yesterday. I so enjoy hearing from you. I wanted to pop by and see how you are all fairing with the weather. Glad to know all is well. One of my favorite sayings is "The sun needs the rain for the rainbow to be!"

    Have a wonderful week!

  7. I am so glad you survived the storms! I am sure they were quite scary! All your poor seedlings! :(

I loved seeing all your homeschooling. My Alyssa has just finally gotten to the point of being able to do some of her lessons on her own and it's so wonderful!

    Have a blessed day!

  8. I have been meaning to ask you what kind of dog Wyatt is..he is beautiful.. as are the rest of your family :-) It seems like stormy days make it easier to hold my children's attention than when it's pretty outside..gotta love independant study.. not only do we get a moment to tend to other things or children - but it teaches them self-discipline. Sorry to see you lost your seedlings.. u are making me think I need to be thinking about my garden too..

  9. Sorry I missed all these posts. Happy Birthday to Mr. Watts... the cake looks delish. Wyatt is a beautiful dog. I love the Mastiff breeds. We had an english mastiff back in the early 90s. We named him Samson because he was so large : )

    Blessings,
