Since my paints were out I thought I would try my new used craft book that I found called The Art of Painting Animals on Rocks. This looked like a lot of fun and we have done this before you can read the post from last year just click here but this takes rock painting to a whole new level!!!
I chose to paint a cat per Liam's request and since I am allergic to the real thing I figured I would indulge Liam and make him a cat that we could have in the house.
A cat that doesn't make you sneeze now that's my kind of cat!!
When we had Mr. Watts home last week he graciously went to work on fixing up our garden and rabbit proofing it. Adrian and the boys expanded the garden and fenced it all in with chicken wire and I am happy to report the wild rabbits are no longer eating our veggies they have to sit outside the fence and daydream of the days when it was wide and open!!

ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable cat rock! That WOULD be quite the artistic statement, painting every rock in your yard; people would come from miles around to see it. :)
I'm glad that your garden is now rabbit-proof. Now for coyote-proofing, eh?
The wood sorrel looks nice and mouth-wateringly yummy. It's so sour, you won't need much vinegar on your salads!

Your cat looks great! The neighborhood park that I went to as a kid had lots of painted rocks and carved wood. The caretaker set up a couple gardens full of these creatures and wise sayings. It is so fun to go to when I visit my family. Your garden looks great by the way! We're just getting started.:)
ReplyDeletePeach received that same book for Christmas. She loves it and has done a beautiful job painting rocks (I still have to post her projects). Yours are beautiful too! Right now she's working on a bunny. At least we know he won't eat your gardens!
ReplyDeleteI will be joining you on the lonely Mama journey soon, as the Engineer will again begin traveling regularly in about two weeks. At least we can take comfort in know our husbands have jobs they enjoy and that provide well for our families. I hope I can remember that when I am in the thick of things.

and the garden looks so great and extra secure now that the chicken wire is up. I'm impressed with your boys' adventure about shooting the rabbit and preserviing the soft furry skin.

ReplyDeleteThe finches remind me of those I saw at a pet store the other day. There were many in there, all busy--in one corner was a nest in a box with many eggs (whether or no they were fertile, I did not find out!) and in the other corner was a a nest with five or six baby finches in there, and mama and papa finch flying to and fro the feeders to nurture their young! It was a pleasant sight--in a pet store, anyway!

PS I haven't been on lately much at all! We're so busy getting the garden ready for planting and starting seeds and that! No, we haven't tried the soup yet, but we're planning on it, since my mother picked up some leeks for a spring soup!
